Appal Lit is a literary workshop that began in October of 2012 at Solitude at Virginia Tech. The workshop is taught by Poet and Artist T. Byron Kelly and meets each Monday by appointment (3-5 pm) at Pilot Community Center from September to May. Visiting Appalachian Poets and Writers to the classroom and recent poetry events at Solitude have included Philip Church, Charles Lytton, Rose Klix, Sylvia Nickels, Janice Hornburg, Linda Hoagland, Kirk Judd and Michael Abraham. Appal Lit at Solitude was also made possible by Dr. Anita Puckett (Professor of Religion and Culture at Virginia Tech).
